Directions Group Performance Criteria Individual Evaluation
Teamwork is essential for most design and development initiatives. Rarely, will one person possess all of the skills and knowledge, and have the time and resources to analyze, develop, develop and formatively evaluate instruction. Furthermore, the benefits afforded by the use of telecommunication technologies (e.g., working off location, access to expertise) are increasing the importance of developing virtual teamwork skills. This project gives you an opportunity to improve your virtual teamwork skills.
The final project is designed to give you a chance to put your lessons into practice, and to help make the grading of your team project fair and equitable. You will get a group grade, and you are to assess your performance and the performance of your teammates relative to group project. While it is hoped that all team members will contribute equitably and with a positive attitude, this is not always the case. The Group Performance Criteria is the rubric by which the instructor will grade the group. All team members will receive the same grade earned on each group assignment. Individual assessment will be accomplished by completing and submitting Individual Evaluation form. The instructor can get a better picture of who did what and assess each members performance more accurately. Individual scores will be an average of all scores given to each member, and will be added to each person's overall point total for the course.
Forty (40) points for the team submission represents approximately 40% of the total course grade. The individual assessment represents another 40% of the grade for a total of 80%. It is very important for the group to produce a finished product and for the individual to contribute. In my experience, 95% of all teams work out fine. The challenge is facilitating group work online. I hope the teamwork evaluations will help facilitate the process and help each of you monitor and improve your virtual team skills.
